Mr. Mendelson founded Metropolis Capital Advisors in 2009 to help his clients source the creative capital needed during the illiquid capital environment when we saw traditional sources of capital dry up and Wall Street Powerhouses, Lehman Brothers and Bear Stearns fold. Since starting Metropolis, Mr. Mendelson has sourced more than $150mm of Equity and several Billion dollars of Mezzanine and Senior debt. Mr. Mendelson brings more than 30 years of real estate finance and sales experience to the Metropolis team.

From 2002 to mid-2009, Mr. Mendelson led the Structured Finance Group at Transwestern, one of the largest privately held commercial real estate and development firms in the U.S. During this time, Cliff completed more than $3 billion of transactions, including the $550 million Solaris Residences development in Vail, Colorado, the $500 million recapitalization of 237 Park Avenue, a $155 million movie theater portfolio, the $110 million acquisition financing of an eight-property retail portfolio sold by Regency Centers to Spectrum Realty, and the sale of a $20 million rake bond on a luxury hotel in Los Angeles, CA.

From 1996 to 2001, Mr. Mendelson was with CB Richard Ellis, where he headed the East Coast hotel brokerage group and simultaneously ran the Mid-Atlantic and New York City real estate finance division of CB’s subsidiary, LJ Melody & Company. During this time, he completed the financing of several high profile structured deals, generally providing clients with equity or mezzanine portions of their capital structure.

From 1993 to 1996, Mr. Mendelson was with Transwestern’s predecessor, The Carey Winston Company, where he started the hotel brokerage division of the firm. During his tenure with Carey Winston, in that period, he closed more than 20 transactions, comprised of various deal structures including sales, debt, equity and mezzanine, as well as the restructuring of bankrupt or distressed entities.

Albert Missirlian, COO/Managing Director

Mr. Missirlian has more than 19 years of commercial real estate experience, focused mainly on commercial real estate financing in addition to experience with leasing and sales of commercial properties in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. As a member of Metropolis Capital Finance, which specializes in mezzanine lending, equity placement, and other commercial real estate financing techniques, Al specializes in first mortgage originations, implementing of strategic marketing, underwriting client’s assets, production of offering memoranda and proposals, as well as managing transactions and the due diligence process for the firm’s clients.

From 2002 to mid-2009, Al was a Director in the Structured Finance Group at Transwestern, one of the largest privately held commercial real estate and development firms in the U.S. During this time, he participated in over $3 billion of transactions. Prior to joining Transwestern, Al was Director of Real Estate Partnering for eLink Communications, where he established a sales territory by developing and maintaining partnerships with owners and managers of commercial office buildings in the Baltimore-Washington and South Florida regions.

From 1998-2000, Al was a member of an investment services team in CB Richard Ellis’ Bethesda, MD office, where he participated in the sale and marketing of exclusively listed office and industrial properties to local and national investors totaling over $56 million.

Eric Ross, President – Capital Markets

Eric joins Metropolis Capital Advisors with over 30 years of real estate capital markets and deal structuring experience, both as a principal and as an advisor, sourcing investment opportunities, raising debt & equity at both the asset and entity level, and structuring and executing portfolio and corporate M&A transactions. Eric’s role at MetCap will be to help clients access capital for their real estate investments with a primary focus on sourcing JV equity.

Eric spent the last 5 years as President of Artery Capital Group, a family office making debt and JV equity investments in real estate. During this time, Eric helped set investment policy and helped invest and manage the family office’s capital.

Prior to his time at Artery Capital Group, Eric was Managing Director in the Corporate Finance Group at Arthur Andersen LLP where he accessed equity capital, and executed M&A transactions, for real estate clients such as Intown Suites Hotel Company, TA Realty Associates, ING Real Estate, Resources for Senior Living, Taconic Investment Partners and Morningstar Mini-Storage.

Joe Friedman, Managing Director – Investment Sales

Joe Friedman has 15 years of experience in the field of investment sales brokerage in the Washington, D.C.-Baltimore region and has completed over 100 investment sales transactions in excess of $1 billion. Joe’s expertise is in the sale of industrial, flex, neighborhood retail, and suburban office properties and he has represented a broad range of clients including high-net worth private investors, private equity groups, and REITS.Joe previously spent 10 years at Transwestern, one of the largest privately-held brokerage firms in the United States, working out of the Bethesda, Maryland office, where he completed over 80 sale transactions in excess of $900 million. Joe was also the founder and team leader of the investment sales platform at McShea & Company in Gaithersburg, Maryland where he completed nearly 20 sale transactions valued in excess of $100 million over three years.

From 2001-2002, Joe was a research and marketing analyst for the Private Client Investment Sales Group at CBRE’s Washington, D.C. office.

Joe currently serves as the chairperson for NAIOP’s DC/MD chapter in the capital markets committee and served four years on the executive committee of NAIOP Real Estate Emerging Leaders and is an active member of the exclusive DC Real Estate Group for Washington’s top real estate professionals under the age of 40. His career recognition highlights include Top Producer award at McShea & Company, “Top 35 Real Estate Professionals Under 35” in Bisnow on Business in Washington, DC, and Transwestern’s Mid Atlantic “Rookie Agent of the Year”.

Eric Hynek, Managing Director

Mr. Hynek has over 8 years of experience in the origination of commercial real estate debt and equity. At Metropolis Capital Advisors he focuses on the sourcing and placement of real estate capital for his clients. He has been successful in securing capital for all assets classes including numerous hotels, apartment buildings, and office projects. Mr. Hynek is a member of International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), and regularly attends industry events including the Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA) Trade Show, Mortgage Bankers Convention, and many local industry events.

Prior to Metropolis Capital Mr. Hynek worked at Eastern Union’s DC Office where he focused on originations in excess of a $100 Million. Previously he worked at a private real estate law firm performing accounting and various support functions for the firms attorneys.

Mike Alderton, Director

Mike Alderton is an experienced real estate professional specializing in the structure and implementation of capital solutions for individual and corporate clients in the Greater Washington DC Region since 2010.  At MetCap, Mike will focus on originations of debt and equity for owners of commercial real estate in the Washington DC region.

Mr. Alderton’s experience includes forecast analysis through financial modeling, business and individual project valuation through financial analysis and stress testing, and collaborative debt structuring through the management and expansion of multiple commercial portfolios.  He has sourced a wide range of funding including ground-up construction, urban infill and rehab, income producing property acquisition, and working capital for nonprofit organizations and start-up ventures.

He has been a member of NAIOP Developing Leaders, Urban Land Institute, and Associated Builders and Contractors.

Kelly Lawrence, Senior Associate – Investment Sales

Kelly Lawrence has 4 years of investment sales experience and serves as a senior associate in the investment sales group at Metropolis Capital Advisors. Kelly specializes in the sale of industrial, flex, neighborhood retail and suburban office properties throughout the DC/Baltimore region.From 2014-2016, Kelly worked at Transwestern, one of the largest privately held commercial real estate firms in the United States. Kelly was a member of both the commercial and multifamily investment sales teams and involved in all aspects of the team’s activities, including market research and analysis, transaction management, financial analysis and marketing initiatives. During her tenure, Kelly assisted in the disposition of over 25 transactions valued in excess of $300 million.

Prior to joining Transwestern, Kelly began her career as an intern for the Capital Markets Group at Avison Young (formerly McShea & Company). Her responsibilities included transaction management, marketing initiatives and managing investor databases.

Crissy Kleine, Director

Crissy Kleine has 15 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry. At MetCap Ms. Kleine specializes in leasing and investment sales in the Northern Virginia area.

Prior to joining MetCap, Ms. Kleine was a leasing and investment sales professional with a DC based brokerage firm and prior to that was responsible for business development for a leading national title insurance company.

Having worked on all sides of commercial real estate transactions, Crissy represents each client’s interests based on their individual real estate needs and investment criteria. Her multifaceted understanding of the industry helps her clients feel secure in working together on an acquisition, disposition or leasing assignment. She enjoys building lasting relationships with the people she works with and can readily utilize her network and adapt her approach to meet her clients’ business needs and overall commercial real estate goals.

Annie Merkel, Associate

Annie Merkel has 5 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry.  At Metropolis Capital, she supports both the Investment Sales and Structured Finance teams by managing new sale listings and assisting the loan closing process.  In addition, Annie handles the marketing responsibilities of the firm and oversees the daily business operations.  From 2013 – 2015, Annie held the position of Tenant Coordinator at Goldstar Properties, a privately held commercial real estate investment firm, where she handled tenant finances and relations as well as assisted with investor client relations.

Allison Simon, Executive Assistant to the CEO/Administrative Assistant

Allison Simon joined Metropolis Capital in 2017. At the firm, she supports the CEO as well as office operations. From 2015 to mid-2017, Allison held the position of compliance and registration services representative at FINRA where she served as the first point of contact for brokers ensuring the governing rules and regulations were met according to the industry’s standards. Prior to 2015, Allison held the position of Leasing Assistant at Sunnyside Commons in Morgantown, West Virginia.
